40 Winners to Receive DVDs of 2011 Oscar® Winning Animated Film Toy Story 3 and Nominee How to Train Your Dragon ; One Grand Prize Winner to Receive DVDs of all Three Oscar® Nominated Films

March 2, 2011; San Diego, CA– Amazing Kids! and Perry’s Previews are pleased to announce the winners of their first-ever Amazing Kids!’ Perrific Oscar® Picks! Contest. Entrants spanned three continents including Europe, Asia, and North America and encompassed all age categories.

Alyse Rome, founder and president of Amazing Kids!, notes, “We were so delighted to have had hundreds of kids participate in our contest from around the globe, from as far away as China, India and UK!  And thanks to our sponsors Disney Pixar and DreamWorks, forty very lucky kids will be receiving DVDs of Toy Story 3 or How to Train Your Dragon in their mailbox very soon.”

The contest asked kids and teens worldwide to predict the winner of Best Animated Feature of 2010 of the 83rd Annual Academy Awards® Ceremony. In addition, entrants were given the option to submit a short essay describing the reason for their choice. Forty winners have been randomly selected from those contestants who correctly predicted that Toy Story 3 would win the Oscar® for Best Animated Feature. From those who submitted both a correct prediction and an essay, one grand-prize winner was chosen.

The judges, who included acclaimed kid movie critic Perry Chen, have selected 11-year-old Ryan Traynor, of Emerald Hills, California, as the grand-prize winner of the Amazing Kids!’ Perrific Oscar® Picks! Contest. Ryan will receive DVD copies of all three Oscar® Nominated Films, including How to Train Your Dragon, The Illusionist, and Toy Story 3.

“I loved reading kids’ essays about their Oscar picks,” said Perry Chen, who also predicted that Toy Story 3 would win the best animation Oscar.  “Many kids’ essays are thoughtful and showed great analytical skills in 50 words or less, not easy to do! I had a hard time choosing my favorite essay. I want to thank all the kids who entered the contest to let their voice heard and hope they will continue writing about movies.  I also want to especially thank all the Oscar-nominated directors: Lee Unkrich of Toy Story 3, Dean DeBlois and Chris Sanders of How to Train Your Dragon, and Sylvain Chomet of The Illusionist for bringing us these magical animation films to enjoy again and again!  I look forward to seeing their next films!”

“I want to thank many non-profit organizations, media, and friends who helped us spread word about our contest,” said Zhu Shen, CEO of Perry’s Previews.  “Without their help, we would not be able to reach as many kids as we did. We look forward to continuing our partnership with these wonderful organizations.” For a complete list of sponsors and partners with link to their website, visit http://mag.amazing-kids.org/contests/amazing-kids-predict-the-oscars-contests/
